Daily Devotional- How To Receive The Wisdom You Need.

Standard

“The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of wisdom; And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” Proverbs 9:10 ASV

This has to be one of the first scriptures that I read that I understood. I would read the bible all the time and just guess what it was saying; but this scripture was different. It says; “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.” This informed me that in order to get wisdom from the Lord I had to be willing to give something in return. If I desired to have true wisdom I had to have an understanding that wisdom would only come from the Lord and in order to approach Him to receive wisdom I had to come in a spirit of reverence; the translation of fear. Reverence is defined as a feeling or attitude of deep respect tinged with awe. We have to know that he that comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those that diligently seek Him.

He rewards those that decide to diligently seek Him in a spirit of reverence understanding that He is the source of what you seek. In the world we have to manipulate, be cordial and befriend people that we wouldn’t normally speak to in order to get their insight or knowledge. However man’s knowledge will never compare to the Creator of the Universe. If you have an issue and you need wisdom on how to get something accomplished seek the Lord. Remember that His only requirement to impart to you such a precious gift is that; you come with a deep respect and awe of a God that is more than willing to share such a treasured piece of Himself with His children.

Seek the Lord while He may be found.

Daily Devotional- The Desires Of Our Heart

Standard

“Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.” Psalm 37:4 KJV

I used to say this scripture a lot, almost every day a few years ago in hopes to trick God into giving me what I wanted; as if that was ever possible. I used to say “Lord I am delighting myself in you give me the desires of my heart.” That word “delight” means to be happy, delicate in love and actions toward the Lord. The word “give” means to exchange, lend, commit, entrust, give over, deliver up, yield or produce. We have to be happy in delicate love towards the Lord and He will exchange, entrust, give over… what? Is the text saying He will give us the desires that we have in our hearts to us? That is how we read that scripture, however its saying; Be happy towards God, Be happy with God and He shall entrust you with desires in your heart.

The word is saying when we decide to delight or have a intimate relationship with the Lord- He decides to replace or exchange your desires with His desires and He places them in your heart; a safe place they can be birthed from. The desires we have in our minds are just thoughts, fantasies or dreams and we can live quite comfortably with them staying there. However, it’s not until those desires enter into our hearts that they have enough power to become our reality. Out of the abundance of our hearts will our mouths speak and once we start to confess those “God entrusted desires” the earth has to begin to manifest and obey the words of a son of God speaking. So, do not be under the impression that delighting in God equals all of your personal desires being handed over to you. Instead rejoice in the fact that once you delight in the King of Glory, become intimate with the Lord of all, build an intimate relationship with His Holy Spirit you are now in position to receive His desires, His thoughts, His dreams & visions in your heart; the best possible place for them. It’s within the heart and within the delight that the appreciation and love of God is birthed and that is where  every great journey begins.

Start to delight yourself in the Lord!

Daily Devotional- Girl, Just Wait On The Lord!

Standard

“Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.” Psalm 27:14 KJV

Waiting is all about having the best; that’s why it takes patience and wisdom to understand that waiting only means that we have faith in the Father to provide us with His very best. I remember when I turned 16 and I was desperately trying to get a car. I went to a dealership, looked around and found a “okay” car; honestly all I wanted was something I could afford and a CD player. I didn’t care what it was, how many miles it had, how many drivers it had; nothing important. I ended up not getting the car that day and I was so disappointed. I felt like my life was over and that’s how we all feel when we want something so bad and do not get it. We just want to be married, we just want a good woman, we just want a new job and having these desires without talking them to the Lord in prayer and trusting God enough to wait on His response can place us in a bad way. It can lead to desperation taking whatever comes along and stuck with the one thing we desired attached to a bunch of problems!

The wonderful thing about God is when He blesses us its going to be exceedingly, abundantly, above what we asked for or could even imagine. Sometimes the Lord puts us in a position where we see no way of obtaining what we desire; just to show that He is the God that can make a way out of no way. I didn’t get the car I wanted that night; but I can tell you that once I decided to wait on God- He made away. My first car was a luxury car, one previous owner; unbelievably low mileage and it had a gold package (which was the highest grade of that model) and guess what…. A SIX C.D. Changer! So, don’t tell me that those that wait on the Lord don’t mount wings as eagles; that’s just strength. Mounting up wings is taking your faith to the next level and trusting God for more. Waiting is a process and it’s a rewarding process for those that are willing to wait; be of good courage, trust, obey & receive! Wait on Him!

My thoughts on the RTA Bus Fight in Cleveland. Was it the young lady fault. Was it the RTA bus drivers fault? What should happen next? What should we learn from this horrible incident?

Daily Devotional- Can I At Least Have A Peek Lord?

Standard

Your mind can’t conceive what the Lord has prepared for you- literally. God’s ways and thoughts are past our finding out. However, sometimes don’t you just want to pull Jesus to the side and say; “Can I at least have a peek Lord?” I know I do. We desire to have some insight because of the lives we live and the times we are in. We are planners, we have iPads’ and blackberries, we schedule our vacations a year in advance we are a high paced world. God is saying that I understand that you want to know your future however your mind cant conceived it. We serve a patient God; He works with us, He takes the time to prune us and nurture us each step of the way so that we are able to take the next step in our journey.

T.D. Jakes said if God had told him at 23 when he started preaching that he would have a massive ministry and travel the world preaching he would have shrunk back because it would have been to much to bear and I completely understand. If you are constantly looking towards the future you may need to consider that you may not be happy with your present.

We need to seek God’s face and build a relationship with Him and in the process be nurtured to go into the next level of our existence with hope and delight that He has prepared us and equipped us given us knowledge & insight for what He has in store for us next.

We will never know our complete destiny its past our finding out; all that is required to access it is BELIEVE! Believe today!

Daily Devotional- Nothing is Getting Better!!!

Standard

Mark 5:26-28 (KJV)  And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, 27 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. 28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.

Don’t you sometimes just hate life? I’m being for real and I am not joking. Don’t things get so bad that you hate waking up, hate going to your job, hate dealing with the kids; just hate life. Of course those times are few and we return to our peacefulness and thankful towards God for the many blessings that we have in our lives. However, what does one do that has an issue; maybe an issue of blood a health issue that isn’t getting better. We can’t see past the pain and rejection and everything that we try to do in our own strength is not making it get better. You may have experienced this in the past, you may be experiencing this right now and I am here to tell you- as well as this heavy burden woman in Mark 5 is that you have press. Well Jennifer I have been pressing for many years and I my situation hasn’t gotten any better. Right, I know that’s what you are saying.

But let’s look at this text for a moment. This woman who has no name, who is tagged and reproached by her only her condition, has suffered many things- as we have done. She has gone to many physicians or avenues to try to solve her issue; as we have done. Spent all she had, sowed all she had, given all she had- as we have done and not only did her situation remain the same; but it got worse! Talk about bad luck that’s worse than bad luck, at that point you could start looking up to Heaven and screaming; “God why have thou forsaken me!”

Now, here comes the answer. She heard of Jesus; she received a word and to be clear that’s all God is ever going to do. He’s not going to jump out the sky and shower down healing; He’s going to release a word. She heard of Jesus the word of God, came in the press meaning she moved on what she heard. She allowed her faith & belief push her into action and she touched His garment. She received her confession which she said internally in her heart and spoke in verse 28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.  When you are heavy burdened and in pain and distraught follow this course of action; listen for a word, move by faith, confess your victory, receive your blessing; It is SURE to COME!
